Our Story

 Boy Meets Girl…

“Didn’t I already email her?”

That was the first thought that crossed my mind as I scanned my inbox. Michelle had winked at me on match.com, without knowing that we had already once went through the formalities on a prior occasion.

“This will be interesting, definitely something I want to bring up down the line if it gets that far.”

I winked back.

And so began what would ultimately become a 2 year, 1 month, 26 days (as of this writing) journey of love that has blossomed into an engagement. Ultimately, an engagement that will lead to marriage, where we will spend the rest of our lives together.

But let’s take a step back to day 1. The first date.  Old Man Rafferty’s. Apparently Michelle was so nervous about meeting up she was hoping the predicted blizzard would take place, and would be forced to reschedule for another time. Unfortunately, the blizzard never came, and she arrived early. I arrived shortly, and we glanced at each other and gave each other a hug. I think we were both happy that we closely resembled what our profile’s picture looked like.

Dinner went great, and conversation flowed much better than either of our expectations. It apparently also flowed much better than the staff’s expectations as well, as we were eventually closely eyed by the staff as the remaining couple in the restaurant! After a few more hinting stares, we got the point and left for our cars. The blizzard that Michelle had hoped for never came, but it did start snowing with a heavy wind. As I had parked further away, Michelle offered to give me a ride to my car a few blocks away. As we approached her a car, a heavy wind nearly blew us backwards, and Michelle unknowingly grabbed my arm. It felt right, and confirmed that a second date needed to be had.

After helping Michelle brush the snow off her car, I did ask to meet again. She agreed without hesitation, and we were on our way to the start of a journey. It is said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and that night on Feburary 25, 2010 we unknowingly took that step towards the rest of our lives together.

 The Engagement…

{She Said…}  Danny and I had gone out to dinner one night. When we got home, he gave me a box of cupcakes. He told me to open it, and inside I found a comic that he had drawn.

He proceeded to lead me on a scavenger hunt to 3 other places in my house, each place with a comic and little gift (a bag of coffee, a rose) along the way, finally sitting me down at his computer after I found the gifts.

On the computer was a drawing of our pets staring at a computer screen. He told me to erase the computer screen using his tablet. When I did, a picture of his desk with a Tiffany box appeared. He told me to erase it again and “Will you marry me?” appeared.

I turned around and he was on his knee holding out the ring.
